Why need dehumidifier for Power Plants and Water Plant?

Hydroelectric power stations handle large amounts of water. Coal, gas, oil, or nuclear power plants have many expensive facilities, like Motors, Turbines, Power Generators, Boilers, Piping and Condenser etc. If the relative humidity of the area where these equipment are stored can be restricted below 40%, these equipment and their components will be maintained in well-preserved condition while in operation and during storage.
It is also a critical problem for water plant. The dew points of Ground water and lake temperatures are often much lower than air's, which can result in condensation on the outside of the pipes, valves and controls in the water plant. 

If this area is not in well-controlled humidity, moisture however plays havoc with Turbines, Power Generators, Boilers, and Condensers etc. These equipments begin to rust and corrode. Consequently, there is a high risk of damage to machinery and control system. 

Thus, it may lead to many problems:
1. Unsatisfactory performance of the efficiency. Rusting and corrosion will reduce the strength and the structural characteristics of materials. It will decrease the capability to withstand stresses and temperature. For example, the corroded steel blades will become brittle. Heat will not spread evenly, thus the vibration performance will be highly influenced.
